Shri Raj Kumar Goyal was sworn in as the Chief Information Commissioner in the Central Information Commission by the Hon’ble President of India on December 15, 2025 at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

2. Shri Goyal completed his graduation in Electronics & Communication Engineering in 1985 from the erstwhile University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee). He joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in August, 1990 and retired on superannuation on August 31st, 2025. He is a senior civil servant with over three and a half decades of distinguished service in the Government of India and the Government of Jammu & Kashmir. He belongs to the UT Cadre.

3. The areas of his specialisation include Public Administration, Law & Justice Administration, Financial Management, Personnel & Human Resource Management, Internal Security & Border Management & Policy Formulation and Project Management.

• Principal Secretary to the Governor, Jammu & Kashmir, with additional charge of the posts of the Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board.
